A new species of Rubus (Rosaceae) from Arunachal Pradesh, India Naturalis
Gupta, C.; Dash, S.S..
A new species, Rubus ramachandrae, from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, India is described and illustrated. It is closely similar to R. stipulosus and R. fuscifolius but differs by densely bristly or hirsute branches; narrowly ovate or oblong-lanceolate leaves with caudate-acuminate apex and adaxially hirsutulous vesture; abaxially grey tomentose intermixed with hirsutulous hairs; larger size of stipules and bracts with distinct margin and vesture; smaller size of floral structure. The distinct foliar as well as floral morphology of R. ramachandrae differs from all previously described species of Rubus. Differences in key morphological characters of R. ramachandrae, R. stipulosus and R. fuscifolius are also tabulated. In addition, pollen...

A new species of Sipapoantha (Gentianaceae: Helieae) from northern Brazil Naturalis
Lepis, K.B.; Maas, P.J.M.; Struwe, L..
A new species from Gentianaceae (tribe Helieae) is described from northern Brazil. Sipapoantha obtusisepala sp. nov. is distinct from the previously single member of the genus, Sipapoantha ostrina, by having a woody and branched habit, sessile and ovate leaves with an acute apex, and a smaller calyx with circular lobes. Sipapoantha obtusisepala is based on somewhat incomplete material and tentatively placed in Sipapoantha based on the presence of key generic characters such as coriaceous leaves with strongly revolute margins and blue corollas. It has only been recorded from one locality in the Brazilian-Guyana border area in the state of Roraima.

Acanthotylotra alvarengai (Porifera, Demospongiae) new genus and species of sponge from Tocantins river, Pará State, Brazil Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Volkmer-Ribeiro,Cecilia; Tavares,Maria da Conceição M; Oliveira,Karina Fürstenau de.
Acanthotylotra a new monotypic genus of freshwater sponge is defined. Its sole species A. alvarengai sp. nov. is described based upon microscopic specimens recovered from the Tocantins river, Pará State, Brazil, when the deep rocky substrate was temporarily exposed downstream from the dam at the time it was closed for lake formation. A unique set of megascleres, allied to the paucity of spongin, the renieroid skeleton and the fact that gemmules or new specimens remain undetected, call for the proposition of a new monospecific genus to be retained as incertae sedis until new larger and probably gemmuliferous specimens come to be found.

Copepods from intertidal interstitial water of Salvador, Brazil. I. Cuipora janaina gen. n., sp. n. & Cyclopina caiala sp. n. (Cyclopoida: Cyclopinidae) Naturalis
Lotufo, Guilherme Ribeiro; Falavigna da Rocha, Carlos Eduardo.
Cuipora janaina gen. n., sp. n., and Cyclopina caiala sp. n. are described from the interstitial water of a sandy beach in Salvador, Bahia (Brazil). Cuipora is distinguished from all other genera of the subfamily Cyclopininae in having the endopodite of legs 1-4 2-segmented and the terminal segment armed with 4 setae. Cuipora is compared to Erythropolites Huys & Boxshall, 1990, Herbstina Huys & Boxshall, 1990, and Cyclopina Claus, 1862, with which it has most morphological similarities. Cyclopina caiala sp. n. is distinguished by the structure of the leg 5 of the male and female and by a particular combination of characters of the mouthparts. Taxonomical problems involving Cylopina mediterranea Steuer, 1940 are discussed.

Descriptions of new Taxa of the so-called Glyphipterigidae Auctorum (Lepidoptera) Naturalis
Diakonoff, A..
The present paper contains descriptions of one genus of the Hilarographini (Tortricidae), three species, one subspecies, with one forma, of the Choreutidae, and six species with one forma, of the Glyphipterigidae, all groups formerly having been assigned to the so-called Glyphipterigidae auctorum. These taxa will be illustrated in the forthcoming revisionary volume of the complex "family" in the series "Microlepidoptera Palaearctica", now in preparation. The new descriptions are published here, in order not to delay their appearance unduly. The whereabouts of the type specimens are indicated with abbreviations, of which a list will be found at the last page of this paper. Insectivore faunas from the Lower Miocene of Anatolia - Part 5: Talpidae Naturalis
Hoek Ostende, L.W. van den.
Two new genera of Talpidae, Theratiskos gen. nov. and Suleimania gen. nov., and five new species, T. mechteldae sp. nov., T. rutgeri sp. nov., S. ruemkae sp. nov., Geotrypus haramiensis sp. nov. and G. kesekoeyensis sp. nov., are described from the Lower Miocene of Anatolia. The literature on the very diverse genus Geotrypus is reviewed. The aberrant genus Suleimania is placed in a separate subfamily, Suleimaninae subfam. nov. Theratiskos is considered an uropsiline talpid. The taxonomy and classification of the Uropsilinae is discussed. On the basis of the morphology of the humerus the genera Asthenoscaptor and Mygatalpa are included in the Uropsilinae, showing that the diversity of this subfamily during the Early Miocene was much larger than previously...

New Ceratocystis species associated with rapid death of Metrosideros polymorpha in Hawai`i Naturalis
Barnes, I.; Fourie, A.; Wingfield, M.J.; Harrington, T.C.; McNew , D.L.; Sugiyama, L.S.; Luiz, B.C.; Heller, W.P.; Keith, L.M..
The native ˋōhiˋa lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) has cultural, biological and ecological significance to Hawai`i, but it is seriously threatened by a disease commonly referred to as rapid ˋōhiˋa death (ROD). Preliminary investigations showed that a Ceratocystis species similar to C. fimbriata s.lat. was the cause of the disease. In this study, we used a combination of the phylogenetic, morphological and biological species concepts, as well as pathogenicity tests and microsatellite analyses, to characterise isolates collected from diseased ˋōhiˋa trees across Hawai`i Island. Two distinct lineages, representing new species of Ceratocystis, were evident based on multigene phylogenetic analyses. These are described here as C. lukuohia and C. huliohia....
